  • Spirit of Hope Easter Sunday Service with Showers of Blessing Church - April 2012

Welcome to Spirit of Hope!

Hope is alive and well in San Bernardino--and so is Spirit of Hope.  We allow several other organizations, including the Way World Outreach and Showers of Blessings, to use our space at different times during the week.  And we hope that each of those organizations brings a unique contribution to Kingdom of God and the building of community in San Bernardino.  The partnerships we're building with other organizations make us stronger than ever.

And we hope that you will come worship with us to experience Hope, and the presence fo Jesus, for yourself.

Whether you’re a lifelong church-goer or this will be your first time in a worship service, you’ll find a warm welcome here at Spirit of Hope.  You're invited to come to worship this Sunday and experience Spirit of Hope for yourself.

We gather at about 10am every Sunday morning for a refreshing, inspiring time of relaxed, joyful, hopeful, spirited worship together.

Please join us, expecting to connect, engage and experience GOD!  You’ll be warmly greeted and given a bulletin, with a brief description of the day’s worship service and a list of upcoming activities at Spirit of Hope.  Worship will begin with uplifting,  powerful music from a variety of sources—praise and worship and contemporary Christian music, Gospel and old hymns, played and sung in new ways—followed by an inspirational, faith-building, Bible-based message.  We usually share the Lord’s Supper (communion) before being sent back into the world to share God’s love with those we meet during the week.  Although worship will be over about 11:30am, we encourage you to hang around with your new friends afterwards.

We are a Bible-grounded, Jesus-centered, family-friendly, multi-cultural, grace-based church that warmly embraces everyone, especially the most hurting and broken. We are a church ANYONE can come to. You don't have to be "religious" or a "church-goer" to be a full part of our community.

We are truly multi-generational.  Our congregation includes people of all ages.  Children, even babies, are welcome in worship—you may even see happy kids dancing up and down the aisles during worship.  We all gather together for worship, then we provide age-appropriate activities and biblical learning for children ages 3 thru 6th grade after our initial gathering time.

Being “family-friendly” doesn’t mean that you need to be part of a “classic family” to worship with us. Many of our adults are single, and you’ll be welcomed whatever your family situation is.

We don’t have a dress code, and you’ll notice a lot of variety in what people wear to worship.  Some come in jeans or shorts and T-shirts, some come in dresses or shirts and ties.  Come however you are comfortable.  God looks on the heart, not a person’s clothes.

God is doing a new thing at Spirit of Hope.  Join us and let God do a new thing in your life.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Jay

  • Sunday Worship

We gather for worship every Sunday about 10 a.m.  You're invited to come meet Jesus in His Word and the bread and wine (grape juice if you prefer) of the Lord's Supper.  We're glad God has led you here.

  • Our On-Site Partners; Building Community in San Bernardino

We worship every Sunday at 10 a.m.  We operate a food pantry on the last Tuesday of the month.  We make Vacation Bible School free for families in our neighorhood.  We have many other programs, although many of them are off for the summer. And many organizations use Spirit of Hope's facilities during the week.  For example, The Way World Outreach worships on our site Saturday at 5:30 p.m; Showers of Blessings worships on our site Sundays at 11:30 a.m.;  the Osbun Square Owners Association meets on our site, occasionally on Thursday nights; Inland Congregations United for Change occasionally holds meetings on our site; and Straight Up AA meets every Saturday at 10 a.m.  We're glad to make our campus available to other organizations that are working together to make San Bernardino a stronger community.

  • Choir

Our choir usually sings in worship twice a month, enhancing our worship services.  If you like to sing, please prayerfully consider joining us in singing praise to God.  The choir is taking the summer off, but will be back in September.

  • Eden Center Bible Study

The Eden Center Bible Study usually meets Wednesday mornings at 10, in the Eden Center Rec Room .  We're currently looking at the theme "We Were Made To Thrive," including readings from the Psalms and Old Testament Wisdom Literature.  You're invited to join us at the Eden Center, right behind our parking lot, or you can enter from Osbun.

  • Girlz of Faith

The Girlz of Faith usually meet twice a month in members' homes, at 6:45 on Monday nights.  The Girlz are also taking the summer off, but will be back in the fall.  All women are invited.  Please call the office or talk to Amy Kamiyama for location or other details.

Our Men's Bible Study usually meets jointly with the men of Lutheran Church of Our Savior, at 8 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month.  Our next meeting will be Saturday, August 15, at Lutheran Church of Our Savior. You're invited.

  • Feeding the Poor: Food Pantry Distribution

Our Food Pantry Distribution day is the last Tuesday of the month, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.  The next distribution will be TUESDAY, August 28.  We help feed between 150 and 230 families every month, and also distribute clothing.  You can help with this important ministry by helping with set up after worship on Sunday, August 26, coming at 8:30 to help with our distribution on Tuesday August 28, or by donating food, clothing, or funds to Spirit of Hope.

  • AA Meetings at Spirit of Hope

The Straight Up AA group meets at Spirit of Hope, Saturday mornings at 10 a.m.  You are welcome and invited to attend.

Our Women's Group has moved back to Saturday mornings.  The next meeting will be 9 a.m. Saturday, August 15, at the Coco's in Rialto.  All women are invited.  Please contact Melissa Anderson or call the office for more information.

  • Blackberry Bush

Blackberry Bush, an 8 week discussion based course in Christianity, is great for people who are curious about Christianity or who are simply interested in getting to know more people.  Blackberry Bush will be back soon.
