Hope is alive and well in San Bernardino--and so is Spirit of Hope. We allow several other organizations, including A3 California Prep, the Way World Outreach and Showers of Blessings, to use our space at different times during the week. And we hope that each of those organizations brings a unique contribution to Kingdom of God and the building of community in San Bernardino. The partnerships we're building with other organizations make us stronger than ever.
And we hope that you will come worship with us to experience Hope, and the presence fo Jesus, for yourself.
Whether you’re a lifelong church-goer or this will be your first time in a worship service, you’ll find a warm welcome here at Spirit of Hope. You're invited to come to worship this Sunday and experience Spirit of Hope for yourself.
We gather at about 10am every Sunday morning for a refreshing, inspiring time of relaxed, joyful, hopeful, spirited worship together.
Please join us, expecting to connect, engage and experience GOD! You’ll be warmly greeted and given a bulletin, with a brief description of the day’s worship service and a list of upcoming activities at Spirit of Hope. Worship will begin with uplifting, powerful music from a variety of sources—praise and worship and contemporary Christian music, Gospel and old hymns, played and sung in new ways—followed by an inspirational, faith-building, Bible-based message. We usually share the Lord’s Supper (communion) before being sent back into the world to share God’s love with those we meet during the week. Although worship will be over about 11:30am, we encourage you to hang around with your new friends afterwards.
We are a Bible-grounded, Jesus-centered, family-friendly, multi-cultural, grace-based church that warmly embraces everyone, especially the most hurting and broken. We are a church ANYONE can come to. You don't have to be "religious" or a "church-goer" to be a full part of our community.
We are truly multi-generational. Our congregation includes people of all ages. Children, even babies, are welcome in worship—you may even see happy kids dancing up and down the aisles during worship. We all gather together for worship, then we provide age-appropriate activities and biblical learning for children ages 3 thru 6th grade after our initial gathering time.
Being “family-friendly” doesn’t mean that you need to be part of a “traditional family” to worship with us. Many of our adults are single, and you’ll be welcomed whatever your family situation is.
We don’t have a dress code, and you’ll notice a lot of variety in what people wear to worship. Some come in jeans or shorts and T-shirts, some come in dresses or shirts and ties. Come however you are comfortable. God looks on the heart, not a person’s clothes.
God is doing a new thing at Spirit of Hope. Join us and let God do a new thing in your life.
Grace and peace,
We gather for worship every Sunday about 10 a.m. You're invited to come meet Jesus in His Word and the bread and wine (grape juice if you prefer) of the Lord's Supper. We're glad God has led you here.
We have been studying stories of the Old Testament through our Holy Moly curriculum. We welcome children ages 3-13 to participate in this in-depth learning of familiar Bible stories. We appreciate Amy Kamiyama, Jenny Evans and Katie Kamiyama, who plan and teach the Sunday School lessons. If you have interest in teaching or supporting the Sunday School program, please see Amy Kamiyama.
Please welcome our building and ministry partners, Showers of Blessings, World Evangelistic Ministries International (WEMI), A3 California Prep Charter School, Tri-State Community Healthcare Center, and HKBP California (a joint congregation of the ELCA and the Batak church in Indonesia).
Showers of Blessings worships in our parish hall Sunday mornings at 12:30. WEMI is now worshiping in our Sanctuary at 3 on Sunday afternoons.
A3 California Prep operates a charter school that uses our site as a learning center.
Tri State Community Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Health Clinic that provides basic health screenings and other services. While many of their services focus on women’s health issues, they also see men. They accept insurance, including Medical and Medicaid, but provide free health care to the uninsured. They will be on our site two Tuesdays a month, the last Tuesday during our food pantry, and the morning of the first Tuesday, for follow-up appointments.
HKBP California worships in our Parish Hall on Sunday afternoons.
Thanks to God for the ministry these organizations do on our site and in our community.
The choir usually sings about two Sundays a month, enhancing our worship. If you like to sing, consider joining the choir when they're back in the fall.
The Eden Center Bible Study usually meets Wednesday mornings at 10, in the Eden Center Rec Room . We're currently studying the Sermon on the Mount, and will begin following the Old Testament lessons that are included in our Sunday morning preaching series on September 11. You're invited to join us at the Eden Center, right behind our parking lot, or you can enter from Osbun.
Girlz of Faith Women's Bible Study will start up again on Sept. 12th at 5:30 at Jenny Evans's house. We will be studying the book "Choose Love" by Stormie Omartian. This Bible study is for women who are both friends and members of the congregation. Bible study runs on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. We meet at the homes of the group members on a rotating basis. For our first Girlz of Faith session, we will be sharing a potluck dinner at 5:30. At 6:00, we will hear a presentation by a guest speaker called "The Healing Oils of the Bible," where we will learn about the history of essential oils during Biblical times, their healing properties and the purpose and practice of Biblical Annointing. Please contact Amy Kamiyama if you are interested or have questions
